Created by Warren Ellis, Planetary is an organization calling themselves "Archaeologists of the Impossible", who come to the scene when remnants of an old superhero world leak into the modern world.

Currently, everyone is waiting for the last issue, which I hope will mark the eventual release of a collection of the issues.

Planetary Batman: Night on Earth is a one-shot showing what Gotham is like in the Planetary universe. Of course, a visit to Gotham would be incomplete without a visit from a certain Caped Crusader. A personal favorite is when Planetary's badass dude Snow meets face to face with Bats.

I like the witty rejoinders these well-adjusted adventurers keep on making against Bats. Course, it all was siphoned into that collective BATMAN AWESOME JAR all humans have.

I would kill to be Batman's special friend.

this is surprisingly, unexpectedly good. Thanks, Aaron.

Question: Planetary is... does it have a cannon continuoum (I didn't spell that right) or was it created specifically for this comic? 'Cause the Planetary earth charcters seem to correspond to certain batmanverse characters and I can't figure out the alien porn dude. -_-

I probably misunderstood your question, but here goes:

Yes, Planetary has its own universe and its own story. Planetary consists of three people and one other person who funds everything (Jakita says, "He could be Bill Gates, he could be Hitler. All we know is that he or she is filthy rich", not verbatim), who they call "The Fourth Man". The three main dudes are Jakita ("can dropkick a rhino over the Grand Canyon", is not a dude), the Drummer ("my first name is The and my last name is Drummer"), and the new recruit Snow (I, uhh, don't seem to have any quote in mind for snow. But you've seen how badass he is, so-!). Basically, Jakita can run fast and hit hard, Drummer can talk to machines with his drumsticks, and Snow is iceman with some badassery (yes, that is a word, shut up!!) on the side.

And, yes, I was amused by the "easter eggs", like Dick Grayson being an inspector and that Jasper dude (Why so..?). And I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think about the crazy dude. Is he Bruce Wayne in Planetary's universe? Or am I going bats (hurrrr)?

DISCLAIMER: I am in an internet cafe atm, so I don't have the scans to look at. Take everything I've written here with a grain of salt.

I believe the members of planetary can be related to known batman characters. Snow is a dead give away, in saying "You can call me Freeze." Yeah. I wonder who is parallel could be. Course, you must consider this is like some multiverse your poetry, so you don't quite know.

Also, Batman with mace (used versus girls) is a jerk. I mean, careless whisper. That's not chivalrous. For me, that's just plain pansy.

I don't think
Snow isn't

He is nothing like any incarnation of Mr. Freeze. At all. It was just a nod to the character, I think. Jakita's reply 'splains it all.

I loved the Adam West female repellant srpray-carrying Bats. ^_^ Doesn't hit girls but isnt' above spraying girls' eyes, nose, and mouth with chemicals. I'm assuming the Batman after that is the Goddamn (or possibly The dark knight strikes again Bats).

This may be the one comic that I will grudgingly hand Mr Freeze an ounce of respect, and he isn't even Mr Freeze. Tsk.

Gut feel says John Black = Bats? Yes? No?

Yeah, that's what I was saying in my confusing post above.
I also say Yes to that.

Would make more sense.
