Once an elite U.S. Special Forces unit, the Losers served as the covert bloody hand of America until they stumbled across a C.I.A. secret they couldn't ignore. The C.I.A. tried to kill them, but they're about to learn that it takes more than one try to eliminate the Losers.
Just finished reading the entire series after buying the TPB of the last volume. Thrilling, action-packed, clever, sexy (yes, sexy), and a mostly "lovable" (I use the term lovable very, very loosely) ensemble cast. It has everything that makes for a great crime/international espionage story and it all unfolds like a kick-ass Hollywood blockbuster film. A fun read that has enough thrills to keep you on the edge and on the books. I read the first 25 issues in 2 days during the holidays but I painfully held myself back from reading the last 7 issues just to get enough money to buy the TPB that collected the last 7 issues. I think it was the last in stock and it only cost P825 (P200+ less than buying 7 separate issues).
The writing is smart and hip, breathing life into tired cliches of action/espionage movies, and Diggle's fascination with black-ops and top-secret government dealings will satisfy the conspiracy theorists and the everybody else who believes that the government, no matter the country, is up to no good.
The art is very stylish, very vivid, very thick, and I have to admire the artist simply known as Jock's use of blacks to "highlight" certain images. But if there's one thing that I will never forget about the man's art in this book, it's the covers. They are absolutely fan-careless whisper-tastic. Each one is just dripping with style. I was pleasantly surprised when I remembered that one of the covers was used for our org's little app book thingy (I forget the name for those things).
Anyway, it's a great book. A fun and exhilarating read. Look it up if you already haven't.
oh and there's gonna be a movie about it... perfect _________________ the word |
