Welcome to the new DC Universe.

John Michael Straczynski will write Superman with Shane Davis doing the art,

while Geoff Johns will write Batman with Gary Frank doing the art.

(Alfred looks like a badass)

Looks like DC is abandoning the All-Star project so they're coming up with a new "Ultimate" version. New universe, separate continuity. And it's all coming in 200-page graphic novel format so this probably won't be bogged down by delays like the All-Star comics.

And here's an in-depth interview of JMS and Johns regarding their work on DC: Earth One.

I personally am really excited about Johns writing for Batman. Thoughts?

JMS for Superman? I dunno, man. After Morrison's amazingly low-key yet deeply emotional and introspective look at Silver Age Superman (or any incarnation of Superman for that matter), I don't really think the cloying, overtly tear-pandering and perfumed prose of JMS can cut it. Unless they're going for another action-oriented comic, which in my opinion is a step in a bad direction for any continuity character.

But stiiiiill, the interview is making me think twice, especially the anecdote where this quote came from,

JMS wrote:
I pointed to where I'd been standing, in front of a ten-foot-tall cutout of Superman. "How could I stand under that, in front of him, and do nothing?" I said.

In any case, he's got the right attitude, so much props to him and hopefully he'll do well. I'll definitely pick it up. Off Rapidshare.

Geoff Johns' interview is making me rage a little. Can't he answer a question well enough to actually answer the goddamned question? Anyway, this looks like fairly rudimentary Bat-fare. But, "unlimited creative freedom" is echoing off the walls of my mind. Despite everything, I am psyched.

Early this afternoon, I've realized that David Finch's Bat-costume design closely resembles Gary Frank's (the overall suit, no briefs/shorts/whatever that is, and that yellow oval). The belt is the only exception, Finch's more like the Schumacher movie design, Frank's design is like a fusion of the capsules and pockets incarnations of the belts (BTAS-ish).

That's all. I hope both the OGN and the ongoing deliver well. ;D

Haven't read this one yet (waiting for scans next week, I hope). IGN's review with this one's pretty bad.
