WE HAVE ONE APPROVED TOPIC
I PUT IT UP AT THE DAY OF THE DEADLINE
PANELED PICTORIAL PROPAGANDA(?!): POLITICS IN COMICS
I HAVE NO IDEA HOW WE'RE GONNA DO THAT
Seriously though, I asked Job earlier last week if he can provide me with contact details of people who can speak for our ACLE. He hasn't gotten back to me yet.
I put up another "topic" at the ACLE website as a "back-up plan" if we don't get any speakers. We're gonna have a film showing (woo). Ghost World. ULTRA-HIP TEENAGE ANGST AND ALIENATION IN YOUR FACE BABY. The current batch of UP kids will love it, that I am sure of. Still pending for approval, though.
I WILL KEEP YOU GUYS UPDATED.

I know a little of these, more of strips actually, which I've seen from various encyclopedias and magazines. But yeah, a Political Science major or a political (satire) cartoonist would help us push our topic. |

I was actually thinking of political cartoons as our ACLE topic. Wow. Never thought it will actually be this.
Yeah, I guess people who actually do these comics/cartoons and people who know the workings behind these will be appropriate speakers.

THis has the potential to be really great. Think Civil War, Death of Captain America/Superman, etc. I read an article about how the whole Civil War/Captain America's death was reflective of American culture and a certain american bill while his return was born out of Obama's presidency. There are also the whole gang of X-Men and the analogies to California's Proposition 8 |

Maybe we can focus on how comics have responded to the so-called 'War on Terror', in all its controversies... ( which is still ongoing in Afghanistan )
