It's this Friday and we're supposed to participate. From Tina's notes from the previous ALC, we're partnered with SPECA, CH, and UPSA. I've already talked with SPECA and they want to do a film showing. It's gonna be real easy since the CAL-SC will be taking care of logistics. We just have to pick a movie to show, a lecturer to talk about it, and people to help staff the event. With all the superhero/comics movies out there, it's not gonna be such a hard decision.
I can take care of the lecturer. So what film do we pick? _________________ the word |

I suggest we show films that just came out this year, just so they're somewhat easier to relate to. Off the top of my head, I could rattle off 3 comic book-based films that came out this year already: Iron Man 2, The Losers, and Kick-Ass.
I didn't wanna suggest Iron Man 2, because it's likely much of the audience has probably seen it already, and all the speaker's gonna talk about is how it failed as a metaphor for the privatization of the US military or something or other.
So, that brings me to The Losers, which is a good film, if a little shallow compared to the work it's based on, but I suppose the political message on CIA corruption can be shoehorned in.
And then, there's Kick-Ass, which for me would be ideal, if a little (okay, maybe plenty) shocking to many people's sensibilities. While it does have the image of a ten-year-old girl blurting profanities and slicing people to bloody bits, it's also a good example of a movie that is both deconstruction and reconstruction of the superhero genre, and there's a lot a lecturer can milk outta that.
I believe the dvds have already been released for all 3 films and we can easily download a torrent for a good-quality copy, I myself have a copy of Kick-Ass, if that's what we're going for. |

I'd like to suggest Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths or probably a better choice, Batman: Under the Red Hood. Both films may be continuity-heavy but I'd like to watch a short and action-packed film.
Also, I don't know what topic could be discussed with them.
(Sorry, I think this post is not helpful at all.) |

I love Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths! Or maybe New Frontier for more awesomeness. Or both. _________________ "What, are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Goddess of Fierce."
