I'm starting this thread for two reasons:

1. Postulate: Old games > New games
It's up to you to believe it.

2. To kick Job's ass.

Bushido Blade and Bushido Blade 2

These gaming titles from SQUARE (AKA SQUARESOFT) are not RPGs. Bushido Blade is a fighting game. A pretty awesome fighting game. Instead of lifebars, your life is the bar. Aka, you can kill your opponent in one hit. Yup, one hit. Here's the run down.

Two schools are feuding over the lolz. Choose a character, and weapon of preference (katana, naginata, broadswords, it's up to you) You than make your way from your school, killing ninjas along the way, and then challenging opponents from the other school on a one-to-one swordfight. Choose your stance, and prepare to fight! Go for a stab, or a slash, and slice your opponent before they can slice you (or throw them off a cliff if you are good enough). In the end, fight an outrageous boss, and crap in his face when you cut off his balls.

Somewhat 3-D, but more 2-D (usually, the game character keeps the camera perpendicular to the line between the two fighters). In any case, it was made by SQUARE.

SQUARE

Yeah, the review kinda sucks.
Job, you owe me that thing we agreed to... YEAH.

I played the hell out of BB2 and I loved every agonizingly painful minute of it. From one-shotting the bosses in story mode to getting shot in the face by the gun-toting characters to committing suicide by jumping off cliffs after a match is over. I loved discovering the "secret techniques" and grapples, throwing sand in your enemies eyes, running around the bamboo stage cutting every stalk down, killing an opponent after getting in close calls like having your one arm wounded, and the satisfaction of getting to a hundred kills in that time attack mode.

And BB2 is all in 3D, albeit very blocky 3D.

RESEARCH:

There were in fact sequels of the game after Bushido Blade 2. (Though SQUARE, Job, was not part of it anymore. It's called Kengo
