Forgot about this.
Okay, I like Warren's new direction with her latex heroine. Out of the of the four, probably three and four gain my approval as it actually contained massive amounts of character development. Emp is still the fairly grating self-esteem whore that she is, but she's learning to be a more emotionally stable individual and in many respects, what it means to be a true suprahero. Supporting cast get props, too, specifically, Thugboy as a homicidal con artist who used to tussle with Willy Pete (slang for White Phosphorous), a fire elemental/multiple rapist (trust me, it's careless whisper scarier than it sounds), who will rape out your suprahuman eyeballs and was recently revealed to eat people as well, surprise, surprise.
Now, let's talk about the real pressing stuff. FANSERVICE. You may ask, "Job, with all the cumbersome and unnecessary plot and character development, how will I, a regular, 280-pound virgin, jack off again to the bondage bunny whom I used to know and love oh-so-tenderly"? Well worry not, morbidly obese virgin, Empowered once again, did not disappoint with a thinly-veiled foreplay scene (with wacky animal imagery), hot and soapy girl-on-girl action (although it's all in TB's head), and Emp getting tied up, and again, and again, and again, ad infinitum. Warren still manages to churn out the usual rope tricks to please whoever gets off on that, and still weave a coherent story, with tripwire dialogue and compelling characters (or at least, characters you can laugh at).
Warren's linework is consistently excellent, and the colored panels look pretty good, too. Not as good as the greyscale layout of the pencils, but fits the world Warren has made for some odd reason.
There you have it. Five is due June, so wait for it.
