What I really wanted to do was share this pretty cool blogspot site where links to comic book scans have been uploaded. You can check out the sites' extensive and up-to-date collection, and using the links, which lead to 3rd-party-file-hosting sites, you can download the scans you like individually.
This sentence contains the link to the site.
Well, at least it used to.
It's been taken down by god knows what forces higher up the corporate ladder, with nary a say-so. So, I am officially back to the medieval ages when it comes to comic scans. I now have to go on torrent sites and sift through the giant flood of hentai just to find torrents of real comics, pun sort of intended. Even worse for torrents that have scans in bulk (not saying the names at their risk), where I have to further sift through them for the titles I want.
Well, at least it's better than not having scans at all, so far. I haven't a clue if said forces up the corporate ladder have caught on to said bulk-scanners and shut them down as well, although signs point out otherwise. Now if they did that'd be bad. Like first year all over again bad.
Individual downloads as those on Comics Invasion also have other advantages, as they don't clutter up my downloads folder with excessive torrent files, and their speed isn't dependent on the number of people downloading at a time.
I don't know what stand on piracy this site has, but if it's yay!, I'd like some help as to finding another similar scans site, and post them here for our general convenience and if it's nay!, well, at least some discussion as to whether this is a gross abuse of our rights or just something we had coming should be interesting. |

there really is no debate legally or morally
BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THAT WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO SUPPORT THIS RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE HOBBY

it's pretty reliable and you can find all sorts of other stuff there, too
that can be your only reason for going to 4chan!

Cool! I was surprised 4chan actually helped!
Thanks! I'm downloading my first comic from it as I type this.
It's a little hard to look through, but as far as I can tell, the list is pretty up-to-date.
Maybe others could share links to their preferred scans site here if they like, and perhaps it could be moved to the Requisition forum if it gets outta hand and is more applicable there. |

Yeah, it doesn't have the most user-friendly interface but you don't go to 4chan anyway if you still need stuff to be "user-friendly." You can also check out /co/ for some comics (and cartoons) discussion. It's one of the nicer boards on 4chan (read: the people aren't total idiots).
Remember, kids! You don't have to go to /b/ when you go to 4chan!

Nothing beats the 0-day powers of demonoid, IMHO.
However, there was a time last year when demonoid was done and I got my 0-day fix from tehparadox

I just found out today that comicsinvasion was shut down. Yeah, disappointing news.
Anyway, I still download a bulk of my scans from 4CHAN but comicsinvasion used to be helpful to me because of their 'orderly' archiving thru comic book titles (or at least by famoust comic book characters). And besides, since I spend most of my online time using DILNET, I can't access 4CHAN. So I used comicsinvasion to at least update myself of titles that are already uploaded.
Again, disappointing news. Good thing 4CHAN is still there to help.  |

Okay this is getting out of hand.
There's been another shutdown of a scans blog: Comics Release.
I've been getting some of my scans here in addition to 4chan, for a little while now but don't use it too much because most of the scans are uploaded to Hotfile, so downloading multiple scans simultaneously is out of the question. Still, since it was handily archived, it helped me keep track of new releases more easily, so I could just download what I can't from 4chan.
Then it, too got shut down today.
Good thing nobody dares touch 4chan. If they did, they'll get some serious hate from Time Magazine. And nobody wants that. |
